What information do we collect and how do we use it?

We use cookies on this website our Cookie Policy outlines our use of cookies on this website.

We collect information volunteered by the consumer, including name, telephone number, email address, post-code and vehicle registration plate. We may use your telephone number if we need to contact you regarding a vehicle check you have performed, or to contact you to inform you that you have won one of our prizes that can be won in our competitions which are open from time to time. We use your postcode to show you vehicle crime in your local area on our car crime map and we may use the postcode to suggest local garages available for you to use. We use your name to personalise correspondence that is sent to you, for example, your welcome email or any reports we email to you after you have purchased them. We use your email address to contact you when it is required to use our service, for example, when you request a password reset or to send a copy of your vehicle history check to you. We also use your email address to send you reminders for important dates for any vehicles in your ‘my vehicles’ area, such as road tax expiry date and mot expiry date. If you do not wish to received email reminders when your vehicles MOT and road tax are close to expiring, please remove the vehicle from your account.

We do not collect, process or manipulate your debit/credit card details in any way, all debit/credit card details are submitted directly to the payment provider (details below), no debit/credit card details ever pass through any other information systems.

Your credit or debit card information is transferred to and processed by either PayPal.co.uk or BraintreePayments.com. Both PayPal and Braintree are major credit and debit card payment processors and are both certified to the most advanced level by Visa and MasterCard.

 

 

Do we share your personal information with third parties?

The information we collect may be disclosed when legally required to do so, at the request of governmental authorities conducting an investigation, to verify or enforce compliance with the policies governing our website and applicable laws or to protect against misuse or unauthorised use of our website.

Outstanding finance data is provided by Experian Ltd. In order to resolve customer queries relating to outstanding finance information we may, from time to time, have to pass your personal information to Experian to allow them to fully investigate and resolve any outstanding finance queries.

We do have relationships with selected companies, where you consent we may pass the details you give us on to these companies. They, in turn, may offer you goods and services. From time to time, we may use customer information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our privacy policy. If our information practices change at some time in the future we will post the policy changes to our website to notify you of these changes and provide you with the ability to opt out of these new uses.
